How Can sore Throat Along With Ear Pain Be Treated?

I have had a little sore throat the past 2 days. Then today out of nowhere my ear started hurting really bad including my jaw. I ve had a hot pad on it to relieve the pain. When my head is completely upright it feels like something is draining from my ear but I don t see anything coming out and it s like a crackling sound. What s going on?

I think you have ignored your upper respiratory infection long enough to get an Otitis Media now which infection of Middle ear. Throat and ear are connected by a tube by which pus or infection travels from throat to the ear.

You need to start a course of anti bacterial like Augmentin 625 mg or Azithromycin 500 mg twice a day. Take some good antihistaminic like Loratadine 10 mg twice a day and a pain killer like Tylenol 500mg 3-4 times a day. Don't forget to do warm saline water gargles frequently[5-6 times a day]. If the symptoms don't improve in 3-4 days which is unlikely contact any ear nose and throat doctor for evaluation of the Otitis media.
